Welcome
Hello there! As you got here, you might be interested in contributing to our book project related to the field of service design thinking. The book we are talking about is going to deal with “basics, tools and cases”, as the cover will say.

Still here? Great. Let us tell you some more about the project.
The first chapter called “basics” will be edited and partly written by Marc Stickdorn claiming to find a short but clear approach to recap the concept of service design thinking. In particular this first chapter will be devided in the three sections of principles, fields and process of service design thinking. We are very happy to be backed by some great individuals for this introduction (such as Simon Clatworthy, Ralf Beuker, Satu Miettinen, Mikko Koivisto, Fergus Bisset, Lauren Currie and Kate Andrews.. to name but a few) that are going to write about their special field of work.
To round off the book, case studies will be shown in the last chapter. Some leading companies are already with us, but please understand that we can’t talk about names at this time. After all not more than five cases will be shown in order to keep it simple and tight.
So what about the middle chapter? This is where you come in. As service design is quite a young discipline, methods and tools are still evolving and changing rapidly. Hence, we cannot be and explicitly do not want to be authors! We want this chapter to be written by you, by the “scene”. However, we do not want to have just less work with this part, but rather will use the content we are all generating together and support your content by illustrating it in a common manner. Recently more and more people are talking about introducing a standardized language for our discipline. Isn’t language something which is alive? Aren’t we talking about it on all these conferences, blogs or twitter every day? Maybe it is not time to “introduce” a language, rather than collecting the language already spoken out there! Spoken by you, by them, by us!
If you are into service design or design thinking or whatever you call our field of work, you are most probably dealing with a set of methods and tools every day – share these with us! Make your ideas of service design thinking valuable for a larger audience. Establish your approach by putting it down to printed paper and help us building a conceptual base for our discipline.
Browse this site and feel free to contribute in any way you like. Create a new method or a new tool or just comment to the words others are posting. We’d like everything: ideas, critique, impulse, correction.

Of course, you will be mentioned as a co-author in the printed book in return for your contribution. So please spend a second on thinking about your nick name before posting. Furthermore, if you know valuable references (books, articles, blogs, etc.) or projects, referring to some of these methods & tools, please share them with us as well!
Any questions? Just post it here or email us at info@thisisservicedesignthinking.com or hit us with a tweet @This_Is_SDT.
Thank you very much for your help. We are looking forward to creating a fundamental book on this topic, truly up-to-date by your contribution. Deadline for contributions will be January 6th 2010.
